Blade Repurposing Presentations at Expert Working Group

Vesna Jaksic (MTU), Peter Deeney (UCC) and Paul Leahy (UCC) presented new results in data-driven blade repurposing and wind farm end-of-life financial instruments at an international expert meeting in Dublin on 4th June.

The presentations were part of the joint meeting of International Energy Agency Tasks 42 (Lifetime Extension), 45 (Wind Turbine Blade Recycling) and 60 (Harmonised Lifecycle Assessment) and the Irish Wind Energy Research Network. Twenty international and Irish industry and academic experts pooled their expertise in front of a local audience to help address pressing issues of wind farm lifetime extension and end-of-life decommissioning processes. The latest results from the EirBlade and WindValue projects were featured.

The joint meeting was hosted by Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland — funder of the WindLEDeRR project on end-of-life decision support, which was represented by Dr. Abdollah Malekjafarian of University College Dublin.
